I. 1991: Magia

Magia (Magic) is Colombian born musician Shakira's debut album. The songs are a collection penned by her since she was 8, however it was hampered by a lack of recording and production cohesion and did not fare well commercially. Shakira recorded this CD with Sony Colombia in 1991, at the age of 13. Only 1,200 copies were sold and the album is now a sought after collectors item.

II. 1993: Peligro

Peligro (Danger) is Colombian born musician Shakira's second album. It was released in 1993, through Sony Colombia, when Shakira was just 16. This album fared little better than her 1991 debut effort Magia, but Shakira decided to take a break from recording and graduate from high school. The recording itself is a collection of many songs written by the producers, because only 3 songs were written by Shakira. The title originated after Shakira was turned down from appearing at the OTI Music Festival in Spain, because she was underage.

III. 1996: Pies Descalzos

Pies Descalzos is Shakira's 1996 breakthrough album. The title means "bare feet" in English. This album has sold over 5 million copies in Latin America alone. In Brazil it received a new edition including Portuguese versions and remixes of the album's songs. The album features the hit singles "Estoy Aqu�" and "�D�nde Est�s Coraz�n?."

"Se Quiere, Se Mata" is a scathing attack on abortion.

IV. 1998: �D�nde Est�n Los Ladrones?

�D�nde est�n los ladrones? (Spanish for "Where are the thieves?") is an album by Shakira, released in 1998.

Shakira's fourth studio album, �D�nde Est�n los Ladrones? sold over 1,500,000 copies in the U.S. alone, and close to 8 million copies worldwide (although the exact amount is unknown). Though the album did not surface well on the Billboard 200, peaking at #131, the album is one of the highest selling Spanish-language albums in the United States. The album's title refers to a trip on which Shakira's bag (which contained the album's lyrics) was stolen. It was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1999.
